Rik Deblauwe

Rik Deblauwe joined Tiberghien in 1984 and has been Partner from 1993 until 2012. He is a scientific advisor since 2013.  

During his career, Rik has been actively involved in almost all domains of tax law. Gradually, he applied himself to estate planning and to succession law in particular. He advised many wealthy Flemish families.

Rik pleaded several times before the Belgian Constitutional Court and twice before the European Court of Justice (cases Geurts-Vogten, 464/05 and Halley, 132/10).

For years on end he has been a member of the editorial staff of the “Tijdschrift voor Fiscaal Recht” and has been tax editor for “De Standaard”. In 2010, Rik was the Belgian reporter and served on the panel of the International Fiscal Association in Rome. For many years, Rik was a visiting professor at the “K.U.Leuven”. Currently, he is a member of the editorial staff of the “Nieuwsbrief Successierechten” and of the "Algemeen Fiscaal Tijdschrift".

Rik has over 250 publications to his name. Recently he published “Inleiding tot de Successierechten (Knops Publishing, 2013) and "Inleiding tot de Vlaamse erfbelasting" (Knops Publishing, 2015).
